Unter den Linden 40, D - 10117 Berlin, fon +49-30-206 226-71 fax - 77 Appreciative Inquiry in Practice - Strength-based approaches to Change Friday 09 - Saturday 10 September 2005 Content: Appreciative Inquiry (AI) is a systemic approach to organisational change and learning. It was first developed in 1987 by Dr. David Cooperrider and Suresh Srivastva, Case Western Reserve University, USA. Appreciative Inquiry is both a theory of change and a methodology for discovering, understanding and fostering innovations. AI involves the art and practice of asking questions that strengthen a system's capacity to discover and develop positive potential. It is not about ignoring problems, it is about approaching them from a different perspective. Objectives/aims: The inquiry process encourages an organisation to: - discover, understand and value the factors that give life and energy to the organisation. - develop a compelling vision of its future, rooted in examples of its best. - identify next steps for making that vision happen. - enrol people in the process. Experience: Appreciative Inquiry is being used successfully in situations such as: - Creating new organisational cultures - Supporting post-merger integration - Improving quality and customer service - Building stronger teams - Developing collaborative partnerships with other organisations - Finding appropriate ways for executive coaching and performance management - Developing and implementing organisational strategies Program/Organisation: berlinsights hosts a 2-day workshop in Berlin, September Friday 09 - Saturday 10, 2005, from 10h00 to 18h00.
